Grass, Cut It And Leave It Program
Grass clippings are a major part of Essex County’s Municipal Solid Waste Stream. Leave your clippings on the lawn when you mow. Contrary to popular belief, grass clippings do not contribute to thatch in lawns. In fact, it provides a natural fertilizer for a healthy lawn. Recycling grass clippings can help reduce the amount of waste going to landfills or recycling center.
Used Motor Oil
The dumpling of used motor is illegal in New Jersey. State law requires all state license inspection stations, oil retailers, and retail service stations, which have a used oil collection tank existing on their premises, to accept up to ten (10) quarts of used oil per day from any person. State law permits the service station to charge a fee for recycling used oil. There must be nothing but used oil in the container. Antifreeze or any other contaminant is prohibited from being mixed with used oil.
