Honorable Linda Jones-Bell

Orange community leader and senior citizen activist Linda Jones-Bell was elected to the City Council in April 2010.

Linda Jones-Bell brought seniors together for a 2009 Community Block Party to unite residents of Thomas Blvd. to stand against drug dealing and other illicit behaviors that prey on the community. She brought Community Food Bank of NJ to Orange Senior Buildings to start eligible seniors on a program of monthly food deliveries.

Ms. Jones-Bell is Treasurer for the Senior Advocacy Group (SAG) that co-sponsors the annual luncheon for seniors of Orange and President of the Washington Manor Resident Association where she lives. She is also a member of Orange's Cultural Affairs Task Force and a member of the 2010 Census Committee working to get Orange its fair share of federal aid.

Linda Jones-Bell is a graduate of Rutgers University, where she was a psych/social major. She is a certified teacher who is working toward a graduate degree, and a paraprofessional in special education at the Rosa Parks School.

Ms. Jones-Bell was elected on a public safety platform pledging to work with the Orange Police to crack down on the flagrant drug sales in and around senior buildings and to create a neighborhood watch program. She is pledged to fight to lower property taxes by reassessing Orange's homes and bringing in new taxpaying businesses.
