Orange Police Arrest Suspects in December and January Murders of Teens
The shooting of Devione Jordan
Orange Police Director John Rappaport announced today that the Orange Police Department has arrested a suspect in the December 2nd murder of Devione Jordan, 18, of Orange. The victim had been shot four times on Chapman Street.
The suspect is Derrick Cottle, 20, of East Orange. He was arrested on Tuesday, May 3rd by Detective Michael Tingolie for gun warrants and is being held on $750,000 bail.
The shooting of Tyrell Coleman
The murder of Tyrell Coleman, 18, on Tuesday, January 25th has also been solved Director Rappaport announced. Coleman was shot and killed on South Center Street around noon.
Detective M. Tingolie arrested Keevin David, 18, of Springfield for the murder. He was arrested Thursday night, May 5th at City Playground on Valley Street in Orange. David is being held without bail.

“I want to commend the Orange Police Department for their good detective work in solving these murders. Coming after last week’s gun arrests in the Central Playground area, these arrests are evidence that the focus on community policing and crackdown on gang violence by the Orange Police are getting results.
Criminals are going to know that if you commit a crime in Orange no matter who you are or how long it takes we will catch you and jail will be your new home.”

Automatic Handgun Arrest: 4/30/11
At about 1am, Officer Charles Eaddy was responding to a report of narcotics sales at Pierson and Hickory Streets. The officer stealthily approached Dwayne Williams, 19, of 52 Peck Avenue, Newark. When the suspect noticed Officer Eaddy, he fled inside 153 Pierson Street, and a black 45 caliber automatic handgun fell from his waistband area. Williams resisted arrest and was subdued.
Crack Cocaine Arrests: 5/5/2011
Detectives Walter Imbert and Christopher Dunn were patrolling an area where open air drug sales have been reported by concerned citizens. They recognized Myron Fulton, 19, 231 Snyder St. Orange, from previous drug arrests and an outstanding warrant together standing with another male in front of 170 Taylor Street. They observed the other man Anthony Williams, 20, 721 Valley St. Orange, discard ten bags of crack and found six bags of crack on Fulton. Both Fulton and Williams were arrested for drugs and warrants. Detectives confiscated $440 in cash from Williams.
Robbery Warrant Arrest 5/3/2011
Officer Louis Mullen responded to a report of people loitering and blocking the sidewalk at 300 North Day Street. When he arrived, most of the group fled but he was able to detain George Hall, 21, 237 Washington St., Orange and Dejon McDowell, 20, also of Orange. Checking out their records, Officer Mullen found that there were outstanding warrants for both. Hall was wanted in Maryland for robbery.
